Account

Timeback is for people 13 and over. The account holder must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live. If the person using Timeback is under 18, a parent or guardian has to buy it and hold the account.

You sign in with your email address; keep that account secure, because anyone with access to it can sign in as you.

One subscription or license is for one person. You may install Timeback on Macs you own and use it to set up iPhones and iPads, within the limits under Acceptable use below. You may not share your account or resell access.

Subscription and billing

Subscriptions auto-renew at the current price for your plan until you cancel. One-time licenses (such as the Founding Member license) are a single payment and don't renew. Paddle is our payment processor and merchant of record; their terms also apply to your purchase.

You can cancel any time from your account by choosing Manage billing, or from the subscription portal linked in your receipt. Both open the same place. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the current billing period. Cancelling is not a refund request; those go to support, and the Refund Policy covers them.

Lifetime licenses

A lifetime license (the Founding Member license or the Lifetime license) is a single payment for access to Timeback for as long as we operate the service and Apple's platform continues to support the supervision mechanism Timeback depends on. "Lifetime" means the life of the product, not the life of any one device. It is not a guarantee that every future iPhone, iPad, or iOS version will be supervisable. If Apple changes iOS so the mechanism no longer works, see the disclaimers below and our refund policy for what happens.

Acceptable use

Don't reverse-engineer the Mac app, redistribute or resell Timeback, or circumvent license verification or block locks.

Only supervise a device you own. Never use Timeback to monitor, restrict, or control another person's device. There is no remote or third-party supervision, and using it otherwise is a breach of these terms.

Indemnity

If someone brings a claim against us because of how you used Timeback, or because you broke these terms, you cover what it costs us to deal with it, including reasonable legal fees.

Intellectual property

Timeback owns the Mac app, website, source code, and brand. Your subscription or one-time purchase is a personal, non-transferable license to use the service while it's active.

Disclaimers and liability

Timeback is provided as-is and is not a security product. Someone determined to get around a block can do so with a computer, for example by erasing the phone and setting it up again.

Timeback works by supervising an iPhone or iPad using Apple's own iOS mechanisms. That behavior is controlled by Apple, not by us. We can't guarantee Timeback will keep working on future iOS versions or future devices, and we don't warrant uninterrupted or error-free service.

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of what you've paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or what you paid for your license. We aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Removing Timeback

To remove Timeback, open the Mac app, go to Devices, and remove the device. That clears its profile and lifts the blocks.

Two kinds of lock can hold removal up. One is a lock you set on removing a device. The other is any block you have switched on that is locked at the time. If either applies, removal waits until the lock lifts, or you can email [email protected].

Installed profiles also carry an automatic expiry of up to 30 days, after which iOS removes them on its own. The exact date depends on when the device last synced and on how long your license runs.

Changes

We may update the service and these terms over time. The current version is always on this page, and the date below changes when it does. If we change something that materially affects what you've already paid for, we'll email the address on your account before it takes effect. If you keep using Timeback after a change takes effect, you're accepting it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by California law, and disputes will be resolved in California state or federal courts.

If you live somewhere that gives you consumer rights these terms can't sign away, you keep them. Much of the EU and the UK works this way. Where your local consumer law gives you more than these terms do, your local law applies, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
